Rai Bahadur Gujarmal Modi-Modicare is a Direct Selling Company founded by Rai Bahadur Gujarmal Modi in 1933. He was a great visionary, a great industrialist, nationalist, and a self-made millionaire. His vision was to create an ecosystem that would enrich India by providing them benefits. He joined his father's business as an apprentice in 1919. That time was a very frustrating period when education in India was in the initial period, and the Indians were not treated well in India. Despite that tense period of frustration and revolution, Rai Bahadur Gujarmal Modi was set on changing and revolutionizing the status by his vision and skills.

       He started his dream to make a difference in the whole country with just Rs. 400 in his pocket. But the vision and direction in his mind was very big then the amount he had. In 1932, he started his journey with his friend Narayan Das Baoria by setting up a Vanaspati Project. The turning point of his life came in 1933 when the Government announced a sharp increase in the import duties of sugar. He abandoned the Vanaspati ide to open a sugar mill industry in India that will provide low-cost sugar to the Indians. This industry turned his life by the line of events that led him to set up the industry after industry.

His struggle turned the Begumabad village into a well-developed town that changed the entire landscape of the area. Development of the area refers to the economical development, infrastructure development, and the most important- the freedom of landless Harijans from the bondage. His vision transformed the lives of people of Begumabad and this led to change in the name of Begumabad into the well civilized and developed township- Modinagar.  

Since then Mr. Modi rose to many challenges and hurdles that came in a part of his journey. He believed in breaking every single limitation, whatever it is. In 1939, he returned to his first project- Vanaspati Project, and then he started to setting factories after factories such as soap factory, oil crushing plant, glycerin extraction plant, cotton textile ill, lantern factory, silk, and yarn mill and many other setups.

With a vision of development of the society, he became a people's man and friend for both powerful and the less fortunate. For the better future of the kids of his workers, he established many schools, colleges for children and training centers for the unemployed people. For his valuable contribution to the development of society, Rai Bahadur Gujarmal Modi was awarded the prestigious Padma Bhusan in 1968.
